    Peel P50 owner story

    • by Carphile

A Peel P50 owner explains what he loves about the world’s smallest car.

Except, in the interest of honesty, we couldn’t find an owner (not making excuses but only around a hundred P50’s have been manufactured in the last 50 years) so talked to Rob Moor, head engineer at Peel Engineering about the new P50 Electric and why he thinks the car really appeals to car fans (and non car fans alike).

    About the Peel P50

Peel’s most famous car, the Peel P50 microcar was originally manufactured in tiny numbers by the Peel Engineering company on the Isle of Man.  Approximately 50 cars were made between 1962-1965.  The Peel Engineering company closed its door in the mid-1970’s.  In 2011 Peel was acquired by car enthusiasts Gary Hillman and Faizal Khan, who re-started production of the P50 and Trident micro cars.

The History of the Peel P50

The P50 in the video is the first Electric version that Peel had made (and in the world).

“Everybody I talk to has heard of the Peel P50 or seen it on Top Gear, they want to come over, ask questions and have their pictures taken with it, it’s the smallest car in the world.  That’s the attraction of the car…”
