Footman James support classic car event in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust
[new_royalslider id=”23″]Specialist classic car insurance broker Footman James, based in the West Midlands, has presented a cheque totalling £432.31 to Ian Macaulay, founding member of The New Unnamed Classic Car Group, which ran its 2014 inaugural car show at the end of April 2014 in aid of the charity Teenage Cancer Trust.
The chosen charity is close to the heart of one of the group’s members, whose niece, Imogen Westwood, was recently diagnosed with Ewing’s sarcoma, a cancer that develops in the supporting tissues of the body. The cheque, presented by Andy Fairchild, the Managing Director of Footman James, will add to the £4000 already raised by the 13-year-old’s family who live near Stourbridge.
Andy said : “We are absolutely delighted to have raised funds in order to help Imogen and we thoroughly support Ian’s fantastic work so far in backing the Teenage Cancer Trust through his classic car group. Such community work – coupled with our passion for the classic car movement – is at the very heart of what we do. We all hope that Imogen makes a swift and full recovery.”
The New Unnamed Classic Car Show, formed in April 2013, held its classic car show on Sunday 27 April in Kidderminster. It was decided to make it a charity event due to – it was The New Unnamed Classic Car Group’s first event of the year, its first year anniversary and National Classic Car Drive It Day. 90 cars attended the event and £701 raised on the day.
Ian – who arrived at Footman James’ office in his East German Trabant to receive the cheque – said : “Although we were aware that Footman James were supporting our event, we were over the moon to learn that they had raised such a fantastic amount of money. Our total donation to the Teenage Cancer Trust now stands at around £1150, an amount which has surpassed our best expectations. Needless to say, we are hugely grateful to Footman James for its support.
“Perhaps the best part of Sunday’s event was the arrival of Imogen and her family who spent a couple of hours with us in spite of Imogen having only completed her fourth course of chemotherapy the day before. Inspirational doesn’t come close.”
